(this is a continuation of yesterday’s conversation)
When each of us, individually, begins to see not just our survival, but our optimization, as a natural corollary to the same for our larger group (ie. all of humanity…nay, all of creation), the game does, in fact, begin to change.
- When businesses begin to value service over profits, recognizing their highest mission is to the people they serve, not the people whose pockets they’re lining…
- When these same businesses appreciate, and commit to their employees because they truly understand that we all want to do good work, and are capable of amazing things when properly valued…
- When governors remember the ideals inherent to democracy and show gratitude for the opportunity to make large-scale change…
- When nation states disabuse one another of the idea that political realism, as a theory, ought to govern their relationships.
- When all of us resist the urge to judge, to find fault in, to associate risk with or to simply dismiss others…
When all of these things, and a million other small SOPs that have shaped the path we’ve traveled, are questioned, refuted and re-imagined, with the primary goal being the spread, and sustainability, of individual and collective contentment, then, my friends…then we will know peace. And I believe it will usher in an era like none before it.
I can only hope my boys get to experience such a time.
